Product Carbon Footprint Our CO₂e Transparency Initiative

We make the carbon footprint of our products transparent for our customers. We have introduced a systematic approach in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14067:2018 for all German locations of the Brand Group in order to determine the product carbon footprint (PCF) of our products. This approach has been validated by an independent testing agency.

What is a product carbon footprint?

The PCF provides information about greenhouse gas emissions throughout the entire life cycle of a product. Using the uniform and objective methods of DIN EN ISO 14067:2018, we create greater transparency with regard to product-related emissions.

Our implementation

We are gradually creating PCF calculations for our product portfolio. The results for individual BRAND products are already available as PCF information on this page.

Calculation of our product carbon footprint

Our approach

The Brand Group calculates the PCF according to the “cradle-to-gate” principle and takes into account all relevant company-related emissions (Scope 1-3) that:

  • Account for more than 5% of total emissions
  • Are directly related to product manufacturing

Life cycle stages included

  • Raw material extraction and supply
  • Upstream transport
  • Production and storage

Data basis

  • Emission factors from recognized databases (BEIS, GEMIS, EXIOBASE)
  • Information from upstream suppliers
  • Internal activity data from parts lists, work plans, and purchasing data
